Learn Italian for the love of it

Learn Italian online with Viktoria Laskina

Viktoria Laskina smiling and holding an Italian coursebook beside her face.

Ciao! I’m Viktoria, an online Italian teacher based in Verona, Italy. I teach learners aged 16 and over, from complete beginner to intermediate, with particular experience in practical Italian for travel and everyday life in Italy. Because every lesson is online, you can study with me wherever you live, Monday to Friday between 11:00 and 19:00 Italy time.

Lessons can be taught in English, Russian or Italian, using the language that helps you understand clearly at your current level. We use Italian in real conversation from the first lesson, even if you know only a few words. Unlike boring and grammar-heavy Italian language courses, I introduce grammar slowly and you will learn it by practicing it in the context of the lesson.

Choose individual, pair or small-group lessons, guided asynchronous study, or focused preparation for an official Italian language certification. Live lessons range from €10 to €30 per lesson, depending on the format, frequency and group size. Asynchronous self-paced lessons are priced by the week.

I teach Italian from CEFR level A0 (complete beginner) to B1 (intermediate). At these levels I can give you the structure, clear explanations and speaking practice needed to build confidence. Beyond B1, regular contact with native speakers and Italian media becomes increasingly important, so I focus my teaching where I can offer the most value. However, if your level is beyond B1 but you need theoretical help more than practice, my individual lessons are open to you.

Which online Italian lesson formats do I offer?

I offer lessons for every need. You can choose between individual lessons (if you need one-to-one support), pair and group lessons (if you'd rather learn with other people or your friends), asynchronous lessons (for a self-paced path), or exam preparation lessons (if you need to get an official Italian certification or pass a university Italian exam).

What is my Italian teaching method about?

My method focuses on having real conversations in Italian from day one, from the first lesson, even if you begin with only a few words. You learn Italian by using the language, while I explain grammar at the moment it helps you understand and communicate more clearly.

My MA in Linguistics helps me build each lesson around your level, your goals and the language you understand best.

See how my Italian lessons work
  • Speak from the first lesson

You start using Italian immediately to talk about your day, plans and interests, even with only a few phrases. Grammar comes in where you'll actually use it, because you learn a language by using it, not by studying it in silence.

  • Lessons shaped around you

Whether you need Italian for travel, work, an exam or life in Italy, I prepare each lesson around your goals instead of following a fixed script.

  • A calm place to make mistakes

Lessons feel like a relaxed conversation, not a test. Here mistakes aren't embarrassing or something to be ashamed of, but rather something useful because they tell us exactly what to practice next.

  • Italian through real culture

Films, music, games and other real Italian materials bring the language to life. I choose each one to suit your level and the focus of the lesson.

  • Explanations in three languages

I explain in English, Russian or Italian, using the language that gives you the clearest understanding. As you progress, we gradually use more Italian.

  • Support between lessons

After the call, you receive exercises and materials connected to what we studied, along with my notes from the lesson. If a question comes up, you can contact me between lessons.

Who do I teach Italian to?

I teach Italian to learners aged 16 and over: teenagers, adults, seniors, people preparing to travel or move to Italy, employees learning Italian for work, and students preparing for an official Italian certification like CILS. I explain in English, Russian or Italian, choosing the language that makes each new idea clear.

My lessons cover CEFR levels A0 to B1, from complete beginner to intermediate. To study with me, you need to understand English, Russian or enough Italian to follow explanations. At higher levels, regular conversation with native speakers, reading and Italian media become increasingly important, which is why I usually stop teaching Italian as you reach level B1.

Which tools support my online Italian lessons?

My lessons are entirely customized depending on your needs, and 100% digital. To achieve this, I use a number of tools to support you and the lesson. The tools that support my Italian lessons are shown below.

Digital whiteboard

The digital whiteboard is our shared workspace for explanations, examples and practice.

The digital whiteboard I use is called "Holst". I prepare every Holst board before we meet, adding the exercises, explanations and materials we will use. During the lesson we can work with text, images, audio, video and interactive activities in one place.

A Holst digital whiteboard prepared for a lesson, holding texts, images, sticky notes and interactive exercises side by side. A close-up of the whiteboard: a writing task about technology, asking for answers of four or five sentences, with useful phrases on pink sticky notes. A listening exercise on the whiteboard: a task about Salvatore Ferragamo with the correct answer circled in red. A speaking task on the whiteboard: describe your ideal week using a list of Italian time expressions, plus a note asking for at least three gerunds with direct pronouns.

Katya Lessons in Italian

The lessons were really interesting; we talked a lot, and I could immediately put into practice what we studied. It was also great that all the materials were tailored to my goal of passing the exam, while everything I learned came in handy in real life. I started talking more with my Italian neighbours.

Kristina Lessons in Italian

I've always had a complicated relationship with Italian. I studied it long ago, but whenever I started to speak my mind would go blank and I didn't know what to say. In class you always supported me, organised my knowledge and trained me to speak even in unfamiliar situations, on more abstract topics. I recently made a new Italian friend and was amazed at how easy it now is to speak Italian, even with native speakers.

I've been learning from scratch for a little over a month and I really enjoy the lessons. They're pleasant and interesting, the atmosphere is very comfortable, and I love the structure and how well the whole process is organised. Viktoria shares facts about the language and culture, works to build real "understanding" and gently leads you to the answers.

We've made a great start with Viktoria. The lessons are lively and almost entirely in Italian. I came with the goal of reaching B2 so that I could travel to Italy with ease and hold a conversation. The lessons are interactive, on a virtual whiteboard, and there is homework that reinforces what we've covered. I'll definitely keep going.

Working with Viktoria is really pleasant and calm. That's a huge plus for me, as someone who finds it hard to get used to new people around me. The whiteboard we use is super convenient because you can always go back to material you've already covered. On top of that, Viktoria always sends vocabulary flashcards (personally I find it easier to learn that way). You can choose your lesson times yourself, within set limits. All in all, top marks.

I've been learning Italian with Viktoria for a month. I chose her because I saw good reviews, and also because she lives in Italy and can tell you not just about the language but about the local culture and life. The atmosphere in lessons is very comfortable and friendly. We talk a lot and practise Italian phrases and words from previous lessons, so the material really sticks. Viktoria explains everything clearly and shares useful information about Italian culture. I like that the lessons have a clear structure and include homework, which helps you learn the language systematically. We study on a convenient platform and everything runs without a hitch. I'm going to Italy in a week, so I decided to brush up my Italian, and these lessons are helping me a lot. I definitely recommend her.

The platform is very convenient: you can see the whole lesson with notes, and the homework is right there too. I have no regrets about coming to her.

I'd studied Italian before, in a course. There we mostly went over grammar and there wasn't much chance to actually speak. In my very first lesson with Vika I spent most of the time speaking, and probably for the first time I actually used the grammar we'd covered in that course. My head is buzzing, but it feels great.

I really enjoy my lessons with Viktoria, and after just the first lesson I learned to read in Italian and say a few simple phrases. Every lesson we learn something new, but we always review what we've already covered. And we talk a lot! I've only just started learning Italian and I can already speak, even if only about the most basic topics.

Frequently asked questions about my online Italian lessons

Here below you can find clear answers to the most common questions my students have about levels, lesson formats, languages, booking and rescheduling.

Which languages do you use to explain Italian?
I explain Italian in English, Russian or Italian, depending on your level and the language you understand best. We use Italian for explanations once you can follow it comfortably, while continuing to increase the amount of Italian you speak and hear during the lesson.
Which Italian levels do you teach?
I teach from absolute beginner (A0) up to intermediate (B1) levels. Beginners usually start with explanations in English or Russian, and we gradually use more Italian as their understanding grows.
Are your Italian lessons online?
Yes, all my Italian lessons are online. We meet through Google Meet, VKontakte or Telemost and use a shared interactive whiteboard (Holst), so you can study from anywhere with a suitable device and stable internet connection.
Who are your Italian lessons for?
My lessons are for learners aged 16 and over, including teenagers, adults, seniors, people moving to or living in Italy, and employees learning Italian for work.
Can you prepare me for an official Italian certification?
Yes. I offer preparation up to level B1 for CILS, CELI, PLIDA and Certit. We focus on the format, timing and skills required for your chosen official Italian certification, including reading, listening, writing and speaking.
Which Italian lesson formats do you offer?
I offer individual, pair and small-group Italian lessons, guided asynchronous study and preparation for official certifications. Pair and group lessons are for learners at a similar level and cost less per person than individual lessons.
How do I book and pay for Italian lessons?
Start by messaging me on Telegram to arrange a free trial lesson. We will discuss your experience and goals, assess your level and identify a suitable learning path. If you continue, lessons are paid in advance in blocks of 4 calendar weeks (with the exception of the first regular lesson, which can be paid for on its own).
What if I need to reschedule an Italian lesson?
You can move an individual lesson to another available time within the same 4-week block at no extra charge if you tell me by 21:00 the day before. The new lesson must take place before the block expires. Later requests are charged unless we agree that there is a genuine emergency.
